Pen Cap Wars...

A completely different sort of eris work story...

Anyway, one of the student supervisors where I work is weird. He's a cool guy, and all, and he's really quick on the uptake and dependable (mostly, but that's another story that I probably shouldn't tell), but he's got this... thing about pen caps. He pulls them off of ALL the pens, at the front desk, in the back office, at the phone operator's desk... ALL OF THEM.

And it drives me nuts. I like to be able to put a pen down and have it stay where it is. I like to be able to give a guest a pen and tell them to keep it (that's why they have our logo on them, after all).

So, I started posting notes in the front desk log addressed to "Pencap Nazis", and signing them, "The Pencap Liberation Front."

So, then, I found a bundle of pencaps rubberbanded together and wrapped in a coccoon of packing tape. So I left another scathing indictment in the log book.

Then, last week, he left six pen caps taped to my paycheck envelope.

So, the other night, I did the only thing a rational person COULD do. I took superglue to work, and attached caps to the (non-writing) ends of about thirty pens. And then put them, mixed with unglued but capped pens in the pen holders at the front desk.

When I went in last night, I found one pen cap, still attached to the pen end... but the pen end had been severed.

Pretty much everyone else at the office is just laughing at the two of us, but hey, that's why we're doing it.

I'm thinking next, I might just glue all the pen caps in the hotel on. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Hilarious! I thought for a second there you were actually going to say you were bringing a knife to work, but I'm happy to see that you realise you both are insane!.

If your revenge tactics don't work, fire him.

Oh, and I collect nice pens. Not the junkie kind but nice, elegant, executive pens, I buy 'em and I get them as gifts, and if anybody touches my pens, they must have body parts severed.

But I'm much more normal than eris. [img]wink.gif[/img]

I think those expensive, elegant-looking pen sets are very nice, but I wouldn't want one. I seriously doubt I'd ever use it. I prefer a cheap ol' pack-o'-ten.
